The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) offers each year the George A. Gecowets Graduate Scholarship Program which awards $2,000 scholarships to students based solely on merit (academic achievement, work experience, and leadership) rather than on financial need. The purpose of this scholarship program is to make high-potential students aware of the tremendous opportunities and challenges that await them in a career in logistics management. To be eligible, you must be a senior at an accredited four-year college or university, or already be enrolled in the first year of a logistics-related graduate program.

SOLE Logistics Scholarships

SOLE – the International Society of Logistics and its Logistics Education Foundation (LEF) sponsors an annual scholarship competition for students currently enrolled on a full-time basis at an accredited educational institution. Each year the LEF awards a number of scholarships supporting logistics study at undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants are evaluated based on their intention to pursue a career related to logistics, scholastic achievements, as well as indications of current and future contributions to the logistics profession, as evidenced by course work, special projects, research, and/or on-the-job logistics experience. All scholarship award winners are required to submit a student paper to SOLE's professional journal, the Logistics Spectrum. Scholarships apply to the next academic year.

Scholarship Award:
$1000 scholarship will be awarded to the qualified students.

Application:
A completed application package consists of these documents:

• Official Transcripts for all University/College coursework completed
• Two letters of recommendation from faculty or employers

Women's Transportation Seminar Scholarships

Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS) is an international organization of transportation professionals dedicated to excellence in transportation through the achievement and success of women. Through local chapters, which include male and female members, WTS provides seminars, newsletters, job referrals, conferences, and networking opportunities.

The WTS National Organization offers the following scholarships each year to encourage women who are pursuing careers in transportation:

Graduate Students: Helene M. Overly Memorial Graduate Scholarship - $6,000

President's Legacy Scholarship for Graduates - $3,000

How to Apply:

To apply for a scholarship, you will need to submit an application to your local chapter.

Awards will be presented to the recipients at the Annual Conference May 15, 2008 in Atlanta Georgia.

The Wisconsin Chapter of WTS will award graduate and undergraduate nominees with a $500 cash award, and select one graduate and one

undergraduate student as the chapter's nominee for the national scholarship.

The Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program

The McNair Program at the University of Wisconsin–Superior prepares income eligible, first generation college students and students from groups underrepresented in graduate education for doctoral study. It is a nationwide program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, created in memory of Ronald E. McNair, Ph.D., an African-American physicist killed in the Space Shuttle Challenger mission in 1986.

Each year, 20 students are chosen to participate in the program's activities, which include seminars, cultural events, graduate school visits, and more. During the summer, 10 scholars participate in a paid individual research experience, working collaboratively with a faculty mentor on a project of interest to the student. Program participants also receive GRE preparation instruction and help in the graduate school application process.

Students from UW–Superior, the University of Minnesota Duluth, Northland College, and The College of St. Scholastica are all eligible for the program.

Additionally, students must meet certain qualifications set by federal regulations to be accepted into the program. These include::

″ Be income eligible and first generation (neither parent has a Bachelor's degree) OR

″ Be from a group that is underrepresented in graduate school (Native American, Hispanic or African American)

″ All students must be sophomore to senior undergraduates students AND Be a citizen or a permanent resident of the United States

Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program

The objective of the Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program (DDETFP) is to attract qualified students to the field of transportation education and research, and advance transportation workforce development. This program is administered through the Federal Highway Administration's Office of Professional and Corporate Development in their Universities and Grants Programs.

This program offers several scholarship and grant opportunities for transportation students.

Material Handling Education Foundation Scholarship Program

The Material Handling Education Foundation, Inc. is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging and supporting material handling education.

The Foundation offers a variety of scholarships to students pursuing an education in material handling logistics. Established in 1976, the Foundation has

provided funds, through private and corporate donations, to graduate and undergraduate students, as well as to academicians and their institutions.

The Foundation is administered by the offices of Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) in Charlotte, NC. Since 1976, the Foundation has

awarded over $1,700,000 from contributions to fund hundreds of scholarships, faculty/student travel conference grants, instructional aid grants and fellowships.

The Objective of the Material Handling Education Foundation Scholarship Program is to promote the study of material handling and to expose as many students as possible to the material handling industry, including the vast array of equipment, systems and technologies represented by the industry; the role of material handling in a productive enterprise; and the many career paths available within the supplier, distributor and end-user (applications) sides of the industry. The Goal of the scholarship program is to encourage choices upon graduation that will ultimately lead to careers within the industry and careers in teaching and research that will prepare the next generation of industry leaders.

Scholarship Award:
MHEF Scholarship Awards range between $1500 and $6000.

Scholarship applications and documentation must be received no later than March 1, 2008

Application: Students must be enrolled in pre-qualified colleges and universities in order to qualify for this scholarship.

These letters should attest to your academic and scholastic ability and may also include comments on your qualities of leadership, initiative, enthusiasm, adaptability, seriousness of purpose, and any other considerations which may have a bearing on your application.
   2. Official transcript(s)of all academic work completed beyond high school.
   3. The completed scholarship application, including the Applicant's Certification, unless submitted online.
   4. All parts, application, letters of recommendation and official transcripts should be mailed to the Foundation Offices for receipt prior to the March 1, 2008 deadline.

Scholarship Eligibility and Criteria

1. Applicants must be enrolled, or intending to enroll, in either an undergraduate, four (4) year baccalaureate program or a post graduate program leading to a masters or Ph.D. degree at a pre-qualified institution. Undergraduates must have completed a minimum of two (2) years of their undergraduate education. Students from junior and community colleges or other two (2) year post secondary institutions are also encouraged to apply if they have been accepted as a transfer student to a four (4) year program. Applicants must have maintained a "B" overall grade point average and be full-time students.
2. Programs of study eligible for Foundation scholarships include Civil, Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering (and Engineering Technology); computer engineering; computer science; and business administration with an emphasis in production management, industrial distribution and/or logistics.
3. Students must be enrolled in an accredited and pre-qualified programof study with the resources and means to support the study of material handling and material handling related subjects either through formal course work, independent study, summer work or coop experience, industry internships or some combination of same. Applicants must outline in the required essaya plan of study for their entire academic program that documents how they will achieve the stated objective of the scholarship program.

International Transportation Essay Competition - (this is 2003 info; more current info was not available…)

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) sponsors this essay competition for transportation professionals, graduate students and postgraduate academics.

There are four national essay awards:

PIARC Prize for construction, maintenance and operation of roads.Papers should deal with these subjects, while giving special emphasis to innovation processes that aim to improve socio-economic returns in the short, medium and long terms.

PIARC Prize for developing country issues.Entries are expected to address questions of road construction, maintenance or operation and have particular regard to their application in developing countries.

PIARC prize for sustainable development.Entries are expected to address questions of road construction, maintenance or operation and have particular regard to the environment and sustainable development.

PIARC Prize for essays of young professionals.The essay competition is aimed at multidisciplinary teams of young professionals for a vision of future transportation issues, innovation solutions and their practicability.

Rewards and Recognition
The winner in the United States for each of the four prizes will be awarded $4000.
